PlayStation 4 owners have been given a license to create today with the launch of LittleBigPlanet 3 on Sony’s new-gen console with DualShock 4 Touchpad support, the first game in the LBP franchise available on PS4. The sequel is also available on PS3 day-and-date.
To celebrate the launch, Sony has issued a LittleBigPlanet 3 PS4 launch trailer showcasing an array of colorful and wonderful worlds created in the game. These worlds didn’t all come from developers Sumo Digital and Sony XDev Europe. A handful of community members will find snippets of their worlds pop up in the official launch trailer.
LittleBigPlanet 3 grants immediate access to over 9 million user-created worlds from the previous games in the franchise at launch. There’s also a playable story line for Sackboy to traverse, though this time he picks up help from a trio of new stitched-together friends: dynamic transforming Toggle, wall-jumping Olympian OddSock, and flying daredevil Swoop. Together they must restore balance to Bunkum, a magical place where creative ideas float in the sky, after villainous Newton wreaks havoc.
You might call LittleBigPlanet 3 counterprogramming to today’s launch of Grand Theft Auto 5 for new-gen consoles, and Far Cry 4. Those two AAA games are built for violence while LBP 3 offers family-friendly fun.
