Intellivision Amico Launch Pushed to Familiar Release Date

The global pandemic has wreaked havoc on all aspects life. That includes releasing new video games, and especially what goes into bringing a brand new console to market.

Today’s Amico launch date update was fairly predictable in that we fully expected an unfortunate delay from the April 15th target. The new date was also somewhat predictable if you’ve been following the Amico story from the beginning.

Intellivision Amico global launch date now booked for October 10th, 2021, exactly one year after the first planned October 10th, 2020 release date.

That day holds special meaning for Intellivision CEO Tommy Tallarico as it is the birthday of his sister who sadly passed away over 20 years ago. Yes, another delay is a downer, but another opportunity for Tommy and his team to deliver the Amico on an important sentimental date is a residual blessing in disguise.

The “why” surrounding this latest delay is fairly obvious. Remote work, part shortages and other obstacles are not easy to overcome. But they will be, and you can hear about it from Tommy and his team in the official launch date video below.

Hopefully this delay doesn’t push back an early peek at the Amico physical games and their packaging.
