Disney Interactive used the D23 stage this past Sunday to reveal the Disney Infinity 3.0 ultimate unlock far earlier than it was revealed for the previous two Disney Infinity games.
The reward for unlocking every Disney Infinity 3.0 figure in the Hall of Heroes is the Keyblade weapon (seen above wielded by Mickey Mouse) from Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts franchise. This signature weapon joins Yoda’s lightsaber (Disney Infinity) and Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder (Disney Infinity 2.0) as the third ultimate unlock.
In keeping with the Kingdom Hearts theme, attendees at the D23 Disney Interactive panel on Sunday received an exclusive King Mickey costume Power Disc that is already selling for over $100 on Ebay.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is currently in development with an estimated released during the holiday period of next year. This is around the time that Disney Infinity 4.0 will be rolling out into stores. Following the pattern of ultimate unlocks hinting at future Disney Infinity content, wouldn’t it be cool to get a wave of Kingdom Hearts 3 Disney Infinity 4.0 figures next fall? All the hints are in place, as evidenced by this tweet by John Vignocci, Disney Infinity executive producer:
Well hopefully that answers the question if we can have Kingdom Hearts content inside @DisneyInfinity 😇

While Kingdom Hearts might seem like a one-off appearance in Disney Infinity right now, I feel confident that there’s considerable content coming to the next entry to coincide with the release of Disney Infinity 4.0. King Mickey looks like he’d make a great physical figure, doesn’t he?
