Begun, the Clone Wars has in the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0 game as a second European retailer leak has outed the game’s Starter Pack and surprising inclusive figures.
The idea that Star Wars would be at the forefront of Disney Infinity 3.0 has been around for months and wryly confirmed by Avalanche Software and Disney Interactive in various remarks dropped during that time. With a Force renaissance or rebirth rapidly approaching later this year with the theatrical release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, it makes all the sense in the world for Disney to use Star Wars this year for the third Disney Infinity installment.
What’s frankly shocking about this leak from German retailer Saturn is that the Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack comes packaged with two characters, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, based on the cancelled Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show that ran for five seasons on the Cartoon Network. Disney took a lot of heat for cancelling Clone Wars almost immediately after George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to the House of Mouse so it could be replaced with Star Wars Rebels. Now Disney is leveraging the same series they ended on a different platform and medium.
A closer look at the Disney Infinity 3.0 box art shows a split direction for the new game. The left side of the box favors the prequels and Clone Wars series with an animated middle-aged Obi-Wan Kenobi riding in a Pod Racer. The other side is all about the Original Trilogy with R2-D2, C-3P0 and Princess Leia from A New Hope, with the latter saddled on a tauntaun. The Clone Wars version of Yoda and Star Wars Rebels version of Darth Vader hover above them.
Disney’s response to this massive and unfortunate (from their perspective) leak was a line in fittingly German shared on their Twitter feed.

The text is written in Yoda-speak and translates to, “Patience, you must have.”
With E3 kicking off in early June, I would expect an official Disney Infinity 3.0 announcement to arrive sometime in May. Disney and Activision appear content to wait until the last possible minute to announce their new games, especially with new youth-targeted competition coming this fall from LEGO Dimensions.
The Disney Infinity 3.0 release date mentioned on the German listing was August 15, which is right in line with the release of the previous versions. The expectation is that Star Wars Episode 7 themed characters and Playset(s) would be released in November roughly a month before the film’s release.
