Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box Starter Pack Removes the Marvel Component

There has been backlash on social media over the past few months from Disney Infinity players that are not thrilled with Disney Interactive’s decision to favor Marvel for Disney Infinity 2.0. I have witnessed numerous outcries of “I’m not buying that” considering every new Disney Infinity 2.0 product being released on September 23 is a part of the Marvel universe.

The newly branded Disney Originals line that will feature individual figures of Meridia, Maleficent, Stitch, Tinkerbell, Aladdin, Jasmine and Donald Duck will all be playable in the new 2.0 Toy Box and nowhere else. Those figures won’t be available to purchase in stores until early November so there is a wait involved.

On the flip side, Disney Interactive promises more Disney Originals like Hiro and Baymax from Disney Animation’s Big Hero Six movie have yet to be announced.

To offer Disney fans with no interest in Marvel and superheroes a chance to play in the new Toy Box without shelling out cash for the traditional Disney Infinity 2.0 Starter Pack, Disney Interactive have announced the Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box Starter Pack that includes the game, an Infinity Base, Stitch and Meridia figures (which will also be sold separately), Stitch and Meridia Power Discs, a web code card and a poster. This set will be available to own on November 7, and you can spot Baymax and Hiro on the package artwork.

The Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box Starter Pack is compatible with Marvel characters the same way the traditional Starter Pack is, leaving the choice up to the owner of whether to delve into Marvel’s universe or not.

Here’s a new Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box trailer released this morning in conjunction with this past weekend’s first annual Toy Box Summit.
