Recently Street Fighter V trailer revealed that one fan favorite is returning to the franchise for the new game — First Lieutenant Charlie Nash. And better still, he’s coming back for more than the narrative. According to Forbes, Nash will once again join the ranks of available characters to fight with.
If the idea has you puzzled, you’re not alone.
Those familiar with the series’ storyline know that Nash was presumed dead at the end of Alpha 3, when he sacrificed himself to try and defeat Bison. Aside from a mention of his name, we haven’t seen or heard anything about him since he met his demise. But Nash appears to be back, and he’s definitely had some work done.
As Forbes writer Ollie Barder explains that Nash is taking and, more importantly, dishing out some lethal hits again thanks to some bionic upgrades. From the looks of it, his moves are better than ever. “He looks as potent as he always was,” Barder said, “with many of his signature attacks present again too.”
No one will be more surprised to see Nash return than his fictional best friend, Guile, who also made the new roster. Unlike Nash, Guile has kept plenty busy over the years. The special forces operative was a recurring main character in the games in the Street Fighter, Street Fighter EX, and Alpha series. Clearly not satisfied with appearing in all of those titles, Guiles even branched out to another realm of gaming. The blond tough guy makes an appearance in a spinoff, slot machine-styled title on the Betfair arcade. In the game, players can choose Guile to go up against the ultimate baddie himself, M. Bison. Although he doesn’t get any physical punches in, there’s a lot of pre-fight bouncing going on to heighten the anticipation.
In addition to the two war buddies, Tech Times says fans will also see Chun-Li reprise her role as the franchise’s first female character. Additionally, Ryu has of course secured a position on the roster (as has M. Bison). Ryu and Chun-Li have been featured on almost all of the game’s teaser posters and trailer clips since Capcom announced the project last December. However, it seems we’ll just have to wait and see what others will be added to the list.
There hasn’t been a concrete date set for the release of Street Fighter V just yet. However, if the teasers are any indication of the game’s quality, it’s safe to say SF fans can expect the best when it comes exclusively to PS4 and Windows PC.
