With the betas over, fans can now look forward to Infinity Ward’s reimagining of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which hits on October 25. Today, Activision dropped a brand new trailer that features the nuts and bolts of the game’s story mode. After last year’s Call of Duty dismissed the story mode, which we called a massive misstep, knowing that Modern Warfare is bringing it back should excite fans around the world.
The original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare had one of the best stories in all of the COD franchise, with epic moments that are still talked about today. Will the reimagining have that same cultural impact, without cribbing on what came before, or will the story mode be a throw-away to distract gamers from the intense multiplayer action?
Only time will tell, but for now, check out the story trailer for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
What’s immediately evident from the new Modern Warfare story trailer is that the bombastic, summer-movie thrill ride is back. This looks and feels like an action film, and is enough to get gamers’ pulses racing. if you squint enough, this could be the teaser for a big-budget popcorn film.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is in stores on October 25, 2019. There are multiple versions available for preorder right now, and the game will be on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Activision is utilizing dedicated servers, and cross-server play will be introduced for the first time ever.
It’s also worth noting that digital pre-orders of Modern Warfare will award players an XRK weapons pack for use in multiplayer. If you are on the fence about this new take on the classic game, that — and this new story trailer — should be enough to get you motivated.
These new additions could do wonders for the annual FPS juggernaut and might even excite long-time fans who may have moved on from the franchise after a series of misfires in recent years.
