The Big Friendly Giant will soon journey into homes across the nation when director Steven Spielberg’s The BFG makes its Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere debut on December 6th.
The BFG is based on Ronald Dahl’s classic book of the same name. In it a young girl is taken away by a Big Friendly Giant on a grand adventure that will forever change her life.
Unfortunately the box office wasn’t kind to The BFG despite the book’s immense popularity and following. The film was produced for approximately $140 million and barely made it over $55 million in North America despite an extensive advertising campaign. International business drove ticket sales up to just under $171 million worldwide.
