A well-made baseball movie is as timeless as the sport itself. Arguably one of the best ever, The Natural starring Robert Redford, is coming to 4K Ultra HD for the first time in physical and digital formats on June 4th in celebration of the film’s 35th anniversary.
The Natural also stars Robert Duvall, Glenn Close and Kim Basinger. They’ll all look better than ever as Sony enlisted Director of Photography Caleb Deschanel and Director Barry Levinson to oversee and approve the all-new 4K transfer with HDR taken from the original camera negative. This process was done for the theatrical and director’s cut, both of which are included.
Sony also remixed a new Dolby Atmos audio track and included it with the 5.1 mix for both versions of The Natural, and is including the original stereo track on the theatrical version only.
A ‘Barry Levinson Intro to the Directors Cut’ and ‘Theatrical Trailer’ are included on the 4K disc. The remaining bonus features are on the inclusive Blu-ray:
