This year marks the 20th anniversary of Park Chan-wook’s South Korean action-thriller Old Boy. To commemorate the anniversary, NEON are bringing Oldboy to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on or around December 12th, 2023 in a deluxe limited edition package.
Pre-orders for the Oldboy 4K anniversary release are live now on the NEON website and can be pre-ordered at Amazon as well, though the price hasn’t dropped yet to the $50 range.
The Oldboy 4K presentation is courtesy of a ark Chan-wook supervised restoration from the original camera negative with Dolby Vision HDR.
Supported audio formats include 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, 2.0 stereo, the original Korean soundtrack with English subtitles, and a separate Music & Effects track.
Rounding out the 4K disc are a trio of audio commentaries:
- Audio Commentary with director Park Chan-wook
- Audio Commentary with Park Chan-wook and Cinematographer Jung Jung-hoon
- Audio Commentary with Park Chan-wook and Actors Choi Min-sik, Yoo Ji-tae, Gang Hye-jung
Disc 2 is a Blu-ray Disc and contains the following bonus features:
