‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ Home Video Release Dates and Details

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have announced their staggered home video release plans for Judas and the Black Messiah following 31 days of being available on HBO Max.

The PVOD release date will come first April 2nd with 48 hours of availability, followed by a Digital bow on April 27th.

Those holding out for the Judas and the Black Messiah Blu-ray or DVD will get to spin it on May 4th. Note that a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is not currently in Warner’s release plans.

Judas and the Black Messiah is nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture. It is directed by Shaka King and stars Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya as Fred Hampton, Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield as William O’Neal, Dominique Fishback, Jesse Plemons, Ashton Sanders and Martin Sheen.

A pair of bonus features will be included on the Blu-ray with only the first available on DVD.

  • “Fred Hampton for the People” – The filmmakers and cast discuss why telling Chairman Fred Hampton’s story is more important now than ever before.
  • “Unexpected Betrayal” – The filmmakers and cast discuss William O’Neil’s complexities and his eventual betrayal of Hampton.
