Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The milestone was reason enough for Paramount to produce new 4K transfers of not only the original, but Beverly Hills Cop II and Beverly Hills Cop 3.
Your first look at the results of the 4K remaster come on December 17th with the Beverly Hills Cop 3-Movie Collection on Digital 4K with HDR. Note that a physical 4K release is unfortunately not in the cards at this time.
However, on January 14th, 2020, the Beverly Hills Cop 3-Movie Collection utilizing the new transfer will be made available on Blu-ray.
In addition, the Blu-ray box set will include a handful of all-new bonus features for the original Beverly Hills Cop:
- Two never-before-seen deleted scenes
- Four new behind-the-scenes featurettes incorporating vintage 1984 interviews
- An isolated audio track of the original score by Harold Faltermeyer
- “BHC Mixtape ‘84”, which allows viewers to go directly to the scenes featuring the hit songs “The Heat Is On,” “Neutron Dance,” “New Attitude,” “Stir It Up,” “Do You Really,” and “Nasty Girl.”
The Blu-ray also includes the following previously released special features:
- Commentary by director Martin Brest
- Beverly Hills Cop – The Phenomenon Begins
