Lionsgate Home Entertainment is bringing the newly restored Apocalypse Now Final Cut to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital combo on August 27th following a limited theatrical engagement on August 15th — all in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary this year.
The Final Cut not only represents Francis Ford Coppola’s most definitive edit of the classic Vietnam War film, but also marks the first time a full restoration has been completed from the original film negative. That restoration for playback 4K includes Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.
In Ford Coppola’s words, Apocalypse Now Final Cut “looks better than it has ever looked, and sounds better than it has ever sounded,” and he is “thrilled beyond measure to present the best version of the film to the world.”
The results should prove to be the must-own version of Apocalypse Now, that’s before taking into account everything else packed into this 4K and three Blu-ray set.
The Apocalypse Now Final Cut 4K UHD set also includes the Theatrical Cut and Extended Cut (Redux), as well as the Hearts of Darkness documentary.
