Man’s best friend takes center stage in A Dog’s Purpose, the canine-perspective motion picture coming to Digital HD on April 18th followed by Blu-ray and DVD on May 2nd.
A Dog’s Purpose is based on the bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron of the same name and directed by Lasse Hallström. Josh Gad (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast 2017) voices the central dog character with Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland, The Longest Ride), KJ Apa (Riverdale), John Ortiz (Silver Linings Playbook, American Gangster), Juliet Rylance (Sinister, The Knick), Luke Kirby (The Astronaut Wives Club), Peggy Lipton (When in Rome, Twin Peaks), Pooch Hall (The Game, Ray Donovan) and Dennis Quaid pitching in on the human side.
Controversy struck A Dog’s Purpose before its cinematic release in the form of a purported dog abuse video taken during production. That didn’t stop the modestly budgeted $22 million film from earning nearly $80 million at the worldwide box office.
