It’s Memorial Day weekend and Hollywood has rolled out some big films at the box office including X-Men: Apocalypse and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Neither of those films have seen their Blu-ray pre-order crack the Amazon top Blu-ray bestsellers on Memorial Day weekend, though a recently released Marvel flick has.
Counting down the top five current hot sellers at Amazon.com in the Blu-ray department starts with Risen, Sony’s biblical epic starring Joseph Fiennes. Sony has been promoting the home video release of Risen hard so it’s no wonder sales are strong during its first release of availability.
Coming in at number four is the pre-order for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. The latest Marvel hit that recently surpassed Deadpool atop the domestic box office charts in 2016 has been a mainstay in Amazon’s top 10 Blu-ray bestsellers list since the pre-order went live.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to be a force on the home video charts. Its reign at number one may have slipped but don’t expect a drop out of the top five for at least a few more weeks.
Fox’s mega-hit Deadpool currently sits in the number two spot after being the only film that was able to knock Star Wars out of the top spot. Deadpool was made for Blu-ray and should continue to sell well through the rest of the year.
New in the number one spot is Disney’s Zootopia right as it approaches its June 7th release date. The surge in buying will likely subside later this week but for now those crazy animals are atop the Blu-ray bestsellers by their lonesome.
