I knew Shout! Studios would quickly rollout new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases of Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth when they acquired the rights. What I didn’t expect were two separate releases for each film, each more grand than anything that has previously been released.
The Dark Crystal on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debuted in 2018 and Labyrinth in 2021 via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. They are both solid releases, but the packages are fairly slim outside the feature film.
On November 19th, 2024, Shout! Studios will bring back this 4K UHD version of The Dark Crystal in separate SteelBook *(Walmart exclusive) and Limited Edition box set packages. They will do the same with Labyrinth.
