A recent onslaught of high profile films either being released or going live for pre-orders at Amazon.com has seen the Top Blu-ray Bestsellers list become overrun with 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles.
Sitting atop all Blu-ray and 4K titles is the recently announced Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on 4K. This film, making its 4K debut, speaks directly to Sony PlayStation 5 owners so it’s pre-order popularity is not surprising.
Coming after Wonder Woman 1984 on Blu-ray is the next 4K title, Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Ultimate Edition. This new cut restores footage forced to be cut by Snyder for the theatrical cut and presents in the film in an IMAX aspect ratio.
In fourth place is the upcoming Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection in 4K. This remastered set was already popular and got an extra boost when Lucasfilm confirmed Indiana Jones 5 is coming in July 2022 with Harrison Ford, John Williams and Phoebe Waller-Bridge all attached.
The Ten Commandments 4K remaster sits in fifth place. This fantastic title was just released and is yet another strong remaster coming from Paramount.
Next in sixth place is Arrow’s upcoming Donnie Darko 4K debut due to arrive on April 27th. Expect this one to maybe climb a little higher as its release date nears.
The second Wonder Woman 1984 entry in the Top 10 is the 4K version proving that despite mixed reviews there’s a lot of interest in owning this sequel on physical disc.
Recently announced SAW (Unrated) in 4K is in 8th place. This hotly anticipated release is also the #1 horror release at this time.
Following a sale on the Tombstone Blu-ray and capping the Top 10 is The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy in 4K, about as must-own as must-own gets.
Of the 10 bestselling high definition physical media titles at Amazon right now, 8 of them are in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Not too shabby at all.
