ABC’s Scandal sent social media atwitter last night when one of the commercial breaks happened to premiere a new 50 Shades of Grey trailer. Unlike the first trailer, this one digs much deeper into the attraction and love affair between Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).
Sam Taylor-Wood is directing the film based off the insanely popular book series by author EL James. It centers around an attraction between a young college graduate who falls for a businessman and the unusual sexual journey he takes her on. Skeptics have called the books “mommy porn,” but the books followers number over 100 million and should trigger an impressive opening weekend at the box office.
Though the film is R-rated and will reportedly include copious amounts of nudity, Universal is sticking with green-band trailers — at least for the time being. If YouTube comments are any indication then fans are just as happy waiting to see the “goods” when the final film is released.
Universal will release 50 Shades of Grey on February 13, 2015, otherwise known as Valentine’s Day. Many unsuspecting men will be conned into taking their sweethearts to watch it and then maybe they’ll get lucky afterward.
