Disney’s new animated film Frozen arrived in theaters today and word of mouth is suggesting it’s one of the best Disney films in quite some time. Though it might seem a bit early to start thinking about the inevitable Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release with Thanksgiving upon us, Amazon.com already has Frozen on their radar.
Right now at Amazon you can lock in a pre-order for Frozen starring the voice talent of Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Santino Fontana on Blu-ray 3D combo, Blu-ray combo, and DVD. It will be around three months before any of them ship, but with Amazon’s pre-order price guarantee, if the price drops between now and their release date, the pre-order will automatically adjust down.
Speaking of price, Disney has priced Frozen fairly aggressively for a new theatrical release with all versions marked 50 percent down from their list prices. The Blu-ray 3D combo is priced at $27.99, the Blu-ray combo at $22.99, and the DVD at $20.99.
The target release date for Frozen on home video is either March 4, 2014 given the three month window between theatrical and home video, or one of the next several Tuesdays after that date. It’s simply too early to share a precise Frozen Blu-ray release date.
