NBA 2K14 is shaping up to be one of the most sought after next-gen launch titles on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The anticipation began with the “OMG” trailer and has steadily built with each new nugget of information or asset released.
The latest visual treat delves into the new Eco-Motion Engine that powers NBA 2K14 on PS4 and Xbox One. Forget everything you have already seen in the current-gen version of NBA 2K14. The Eco-Motion Engine was built from the ground up for next-gen and, as the following new video that runs over five minutes demonstrates, takes the franchise to the next level.
Eco-Motion Engine covers everything from player animations that evolve as games are played out to real-life recordings of players and their coaches (save for new coaches Jeff Hornacek of the Phoenix Suns and Jason Kidd of the Brooklyn Nets due to their newness). It affects how the crowd reacts to in-game situations and how coaches react to the game. As its name implies, Eco-Motion Engine is designed to bring “emotion” into the gaming experience rather than pumping out pre-canned animations. Check out LeBron James’ angry face in the video below.
NBA 2K14 drops for PS4 on November 15, though some retailers are already shipping it out, and for Xbox One on November 22.
