Toy Story in Space is now confirmed as the sixth Disney Infinity Play Set thanks to either an intentional tease or a major slip up during a new promotional “making of” video released earlier today.
During the new Disney Infinity Creating Play Sets video, there is a clear shot of a Disney Infinity menu screen that shows the Toy Story in Space Play Set under the five previously announced Play Sets. The video shows this Play Set amongst a “load game” collage of all the announced Play Sets with Sheriff Woody on one side of the screen and Buzz Lightyear on the other.
Woody and Buzz, along with Jessie, have been prominently featured in Disney Infinity Toy Box mode trailers and footage. These screenshots confirm that the duo will come packaged with the Toy Story in Space Play Set, and that Jessie will be a standalone figure, much like Randall Boggs is to the Monsters University Play Set.
Still unknown is whether Zurg is an NPC character triggered by a Power Disc, or whether Buzz’s nemesis will be receiving a Disney Infinity figure of his own. I’d like to think the latter is the case as villain figures have been sprinkled throughout the other five Play Sets, and the Toy Story universe has enough mass appeal to warrant four or more figures.
If the Disney Infinity menu screen Play Set order is to be taken literally then the Toy Story in Space Play Set would be next in line for release after the game’s August 18 debut. I had speculated that Disney Interactive would release a The Nightmare Before Christmas Play Set around Halloween as the sixth Play Set, but that’s looking unlikely now.
Now the only known figures not attached to Play Sets are Phineas and Ferb, Wreck-It Ralph and Venelope, and Jack Skellington.
