One of the early complaints about Wii U is that the console looks virtually identical to Wii. It does share nearly the same name, after all, so apparently has no qualms with any confusion the name or console similarities generate.
Until now we had seen many images of the Wii and the Wii U separately, but never a clean look at the two consoles compared side-by-side. The official Nintendo magazine got their hands on a Wii U early and shot a video of the two consoles on top of and next to each other, with a GameCube thrown in for good measure.
Unfortunately whoever shot the video did not have access to a tripod so it’s a bit shaky and uneven. They did, however, have access to video editing software and applied a rather harsh filter on top of the whole thing. You have been warned.
All of the previously available Wii U pre-orders sold out within a couple days. Some retailers, like Amazon.com, decided not to take pre-orders and will make the new console available on or after it’s November 18 North America launch date. Good luck scoring one.
