Matt Damon has zeroed in on the project to mark his directorial debut, and he’s doing so with a little help from a friend.
Damon and John Krasinski (The Office) have co-written and will co-star in an untitled drama that is moving forward at Warner Bros., but not quite yet green lit. Krasinski’s Sunday Night Productions banner is where the project is being set up, with Chris Moore tapped to produce.
Back in June, Damon dropped hints that he was considering directing Father Daughter Time which would have also included Krasinski in the cast. That project appears to still be on the back burner.
The new untitled drama idea was hatched by Krasinski and Dave Eggers. All that is currently known about the film is Damon’s character will arrive in a small town and soon discover his whole life is “called into question.” Where Krasinski fits into the cast, or what causes the disruption in Damon’s character’s life, remains unknown.
The reported budget for the Damon/Krasinski drama is said to be in the $12 million range. The script is not yet complete, but the pair are said to be working on it now and hope to deliver it by the end of November.
Currently John Krasinski can be seen Thursday evening’s on NBC’s The Office as Jim Halpert, while Matt Damon is working with writer and director Neill Blomkamp on his first film since District 9, a science fiction project called Elysium.
