For the second part of our Gamescom trailers deluge (here’s the first), I have focused on Sony Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 exclusives.
Microsoft doesn’t have many announced exclusives for Xbox 360 on the horizon and even fewer got a new trailer treatment for Gamescom. In fact, both of the videos below are b-roll footage rather than trailers, released to coincide wtih the show.
Sony’s got a more robust slate of exclusives for PS3 on tap and its shows, even without some big titles like Resistance 3 not getting a new trailer.
Gears of War 3
(Microsoft / Xbox 360 / September 20, 2011)
Epic loves to shroud the campaign portion of their Gears games in mystery as long as the information age of leaks will allow them to. Only recently have the first glimpses from the campaign come to light.
The Gears of War 3 Gamescom footage is from the Hanover portion of the campaign and features the COG soldiers being surprised by – what else – giant Locust Horde enemies. It’s not too long, but does deliver a taste of combat and some choice colorful language in a short period of time.

Kinect Star Wars
(LucasArts / Xbox 360 Kinect / December, 2011)
Just when you thought LucasArts’ Kinect Star Wars would exclusively feature a lightsaber and force pushes comes this neat collection of b-roll footage from an unexpected point-of-view. In a Tatooine level, you’ll control a rampaging Rancor capable of smashing any building or obstacle in its path. Put on your best Godzilla hat and laugh as stormtroopers shoot their puny blasters your direction that don’t even leave a scratch. The Tie Fighters, however, might be another matter.
I’m not sure what the ultimate goal of this level is. Do you have to destory every single structure in the city? Find and eat a hiding Womprat? Your guess is as good as mine. Smashing things is always fun and doing so in the Star Wars universe with Kinect should be a blast.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (Sony / PS3 / November, 2011)
The third game in the Uncharted series for Playstation 3 is the “must have” exclusive title on the console this upcoming holiday season. The first two games failed to disappoint, so why would Naughty Dog fail us now? They won’t.
What you’ll see below is a sequence from early in the game in which Drake hops on a cargo plane as its taking off and quickly finds himself fighting for his life. It’s a great example of how the line is blurred between cinematics and gameplay, and further proof why Uncharted will make for a grand feature film in the coming years.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 (Sony / PS3 / October 18, 2011)
The Ratchet & Clank universe is about to expand with the latest entry that focuses on cooperative gameplay. You and up to three buddies can play as Ratchet, Clank, Qwark or Dr. Nefarious, and jump in and out of the game at any time. You’ll get a good taste of what four-player cooperative play looks like in the extended gameplay footage below.

Starhawk (Sony / PS3 / 2012)
The pre-alpha gameplay footage below may not “wow” you with amazing visuals, but Starhawk has already got the goods where it counts: the game is a blast to play. From this footage you’ll get a great idea of the different ways you can play and how quickly the battlefield can change with new additions.
