Earlier this morning, the international trailer for Universal’s $200 million Battleship movie beat the North American version to the web. Now the English version is available as well with the countdown timer at battleshipmovie.com reaching zero.
This Battleship trailer is a teaser that spends its first half introducing some of the Naval officers stationed in Hawaii that are about to have a very bad day. Their fleet, out on the open ocean performing drills, discovers a strange vessell half-submerged in the water and upon checking it out, discovers it to be an alien ship with attack capabilities. Around the same time, the aliens toss an invisible shield around the island of Hawaii and all hell breaks loose.
The trailer’s final shot echoes the classic board game from which the film was based on; an overhead look at the U.S. Naval fleet opening fire on the alien invaders that are called “The Regents.” Liam Neeson orders his fleet to fire all their weapons and the trailer ends.
