Updated: The official Priest disc announcement has been made and details have been added.
Sony’s horror thriller Priest has been assigned an August 16 release date for Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray 2D and DVD. The Blu-ray 2D version is expected to be unrated.
Priest stars Paul Bettany as a priest who goes against his church to hunt vampires. It also co-stars Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Lily Collins and Cam Gigandet.
Unfortunately for Sony and those involved in bringing Priest to the big screen, the effects-heavy film sputtered at the box office. It earned $29.1 million domestically, a little less than half of its estimated $60 million production budget. If you factor in international business then Priest earned a hair over $75 million.
Exclusive to Priest on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D is ‘Bullets and Crucifixes: Picture-in-Picture Experience,’ a 3D trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for PS3, and an uncut trailer for Twisted Metal on PS3 that also includes a Priest car skin that can be downloaded and played in the retail version of the game.
Shared bonus features with DVD are as follows:
- Commentary with Director Scott Charles Stewart, Writer Cory Goodman, Paul Bettany and Maggie Q
- Deleted & Extended Scenes
- The Bloody Frontier: Creating the World of Priest
- Tools of the Trade: The Weapons and Vehicles
