Amy Adams Joins Superman as Lois Lane

Amy Adams has become the fourth actor to join Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot project for Warner Bros.

The 36-year old increasingly popular actress, who recently won an Academy Award nomination for her performance in David O. Russell’s The Fighter, received the news via a phone call from France earlier today where Snyder is currently promoting his most recent film, Sucker Punch. Adams beat out many talented actresses in what Snyder called a “big, giant search for Lois” in an interview with the L.A. Times. Hero Complex.

Snyder, of course, refused to divulge details about Lois’ role in the new Superman film but did say she will be “a linchpin” to the project. This new incarnation of Lois will have to possess “contemporary appeal and spirit,” something Adams brought to her meetings with Nolan and the filmmakers in spades.

In addition to The Fighter, Adams most recently appeared in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian as Amelia Earhart and before that as Giselle in Disney’s wildly successful animated/live-action crossover Enchanted.

Adams will be joining Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Kevin Coster as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. Viggo Mortensen is rumored to be circling a villain role – possible General Zod – after pulling back from joining Snow White and the Huntsman.

Superman will look to woo Amy Adams as Lois Lane when he flies into theaters in December, 2012.
