Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter Appropriately Pulled From Japan Theaters

Director Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter starring Matt Damon has been pulled from cinemas in Japan following that country’s earthquake and subsequent tsunami disaster that occurred several days ago.

Warner Bros. appropriately felt it wise not to subject Japanese moviegoers to the graphic depiction of a tsunami that washes ashore and inflicts massive devastation on a coastal city. The scenes in the film are eerily similar to real-life footage emerging from Japan where thousands of coastal residents were caught off guard by the massive earthquake-triggered tsunami with waves reaching heights of up to 30 feet or more .

Hereafter was playing in a relatively small 180 theaters throughout the country of Japan was originally scheduled to be pulled before March came to a close.

Ironically and unfortunately, Hereafter will make its North American debut on Blu-ray Disc and DVD tomorrow. Warner Home Video is not altering those release plans though may see their sales numbers skew either high or low depending on how curious or turned off audiences are by the idea of the film’s tsunami sequence.
