A report at Film Music Reporter claims that Alan Silvestri has been signed by Marvel and Paramount Studios to score Captain America: The First Avenger.
It was originally thought that Alan Menken would score the film based on a previous report that he was involved with the film’s music. However given Silvestri’s apparent hiring, it now appears Menken will be working exclusively on a song that will play during Cap’s time in the USO.
Silvestri is best known for scoring several high profile films including the Back to the Future trilogy, The Abyss and Forrest Gump, among many others. His last scoring gig was for Fox’s The A-Team last summer.
This will mark the first collaboration between Captain America director Joe Johnston and Silvestri.
