Kristen Stewart is close to proving that, at least in Universal’s eyes, she is the fairest one of them all. The Twilight actress has pulled ahead of the pack and entered negotiations to star as Snow White in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman.
Stewart has been fingered to be on Universal’s short list of actresses roughly a week ago. Though she did not screen test for the role due to her current A-list status in Hollywood, several other young actresses did and were hoping to impress their way into a potentially huge role.
According to THR, Universal felt strongly about courting Stewart and formally extended an offer to her over the weekend. Nothing is signed yet though both sides are reportedly keen on getting a deal done.
Stewart would star alongside Viggo Mortensen who has already been cast as The Huntsman. In Universal’s twist on the classic tale, the Huntsman will serve as a protector and mentor for Snow White who is being pursued by the evil queen (Charlize Theron).
Rupert Sanders will direct the film as his first theatrical effort. His previous experience comes from television commercials.
Kristen Stewart is currently filming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and can be seen next this fall in Walter Salles’ drama On The Road alongside Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Sam Riley, and ironically Viggo Mortensen.
