Yesterday Vin Diesel took to Facebook and announced via his extraordinarily popular page that the first trailer for Fast Five aka Fast and Furious 5 will debut there tomorrow at 3pm EST/12pm PST. Not Universal’s Facebook page. Not the movie’s page. Vin’s page.
Building up to the big trailer reveal comes the first official image from the sequel via USA Today. In it Dom (Diesel) taunts officer Hobbs (newcomer Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) over who knows what. You could also call the image “guns” as that’s what is really on display in the image.
The article makes mention of the Gurkha that will be seen in the film, described as “a 10-ton armored military vehicle that looks like a Humvee on steroids.” Hobbs will use this monster vehicle to give chase to Dom and O’Conner throughout the film.
Fast Five also co-stars franchise vets Paul Walker and Tyrese, and will be directed by Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious’ helmer Justin Lin. It arrives in theaters with box office expectations surpassing $125 million on April 19.
