Death Race 2 Blu-ray Release Date and Trailer

Death Race 2, the direct-to-video prequel of Paul W.S. Anderson’s 2008 Death Race starring Jason Statham, has been given a green light to speed onto Blu-ray Disc and DVD on January 18, 2011.

The unrated prequel sees returning cast members Fred Koehler and Robin Shou joined by newcomers Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames, Sean Bean and Luke Goss in another series of heavily armed car races to the death. Paul W.S. Anderson returns to produce while Roger Corman executive produces.

The Blu-ray edition will be packaged as a combo format release with the DVD and digital copy included. Tech specs include 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, while bonus features are as follows:

• Deleted Scenes with introduction by director Roel Reiné
• Deleted Shots Montage with introduction by director Roel Reiné
• The Race Begins: The Evolution of the Death Race—A look at how the prequel fits into the Death Race franchise.
