Apparition has picked up the US distribution rights to The Runaways and will release it domestically in theaters on March 19.
The Runaways, based on the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name, will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in late January. Joan Jett worked as an on-set adviser on the film and is speculated to be performing live at Sundance to coincide with the premiere.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as young rockers Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, respectively.
