Production began this past weekend on The Karate Kid remake which was recently renamed to Kung Fu Kid.
The film stars Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, as a westerner who is taken under the wing of a kung fu master, played by Jackie Chan.
Jaden will undoubtedly get beaten to a pulp at some point, learn the ways of kung fu, and return to show his attackers who the boss is.
Per Variety, the three-month shoot will take place mostly if not entirely in and around Beijing.
Harald Zwart of The Pink Panther 2 is handling directorial duties while the elder Smith serves as a producer.
Kung Fu Kid is expected in theaters in 2010.
