Two of E3’s biggest announcements have gone up for pre-order at Amazon.com with the more expensive one off to a hotter start.
The worst kept secret of E3 was Sony’s new PSP Go, a sleek reinvention of the PSP sans a UMD drive and about half the size of the original.
Though the PSP Go announcement came as no surprise thanks to a video leak a week earlier, the steep $249.99 price and October 1 release date sure did. A price on par with Nintendo’s Wii hasn’t kept eager handheld gamers and multimedia afficionados from scooping up PSP GO’s at Amazon, enough to rocket it up to the 72nd bestselling item on the hourly charts.

PSP Go is currently the fastest mover and shaker in videogames at Amazon and another new announcement, Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. for Wii, is second. The four-player debut for Mario and friends is due in stores later this year and should prove a must-have title for Wii owners. At $49.99, it is ranked 186 in sales and on the move up.

Also up for pre-order though not quite as popular is Gran Turismo PSP, due in stores alongside PSP Go on October 1. It carries a $39.99 price tag.
