BioShock Gets “Genetically Enhanced” on PS3

A week of rampant rumors have culminated in 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive confirming BioShock is indeed coming to Playstation 3, and will be in stores sometime in October.

2K Marin is working on the development effort that will include “new features and content that heighten the award-winning experience.” 2K stopped short of providing any indication of what those new features and content might consist of.

BioShock was released last fall and went on to capture numerous awards, despite a critical backlash for a lack of online play. Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski has already signed on to direct a cinematic adaptation, and a sequel to the game is in the works.

Will 2K Marin inject an online component into to the PS3 version? Our best guess is no, as they’d be better off saving that game-changer for the sequel.
