Imagine my surprise last night when wading through Disney’s obligatory cache of trailers preceding National Treasure: Book of Secrets on Blu-ray and stumbling upon a couple teasers of what we can expect from the Mouse House’s high-def arm this fall.
The first “new” preview came in the form of Disney’s October release of Sleeping Beauty on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, the first-ever platinum Blu-ray title to be released by the studio. The trailer includes some side-by-side comparisons of before and after the re-mastering effort that might as well be black versus white. The difference is that obvious.
The real treat came next in the form of an extended trailer for A Nightmare Before Christmas on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The beloved Tim Burton classic is mentioned as coming this “fall,” with the odds-on favorite release time frame landing around Halloween.
Better yet, the new DVD version will be of the two-disc variety, meaning the Blu-ray Disc should be packed to the brim with supplemental features. It’ll make a great companion piece to Warner’s stunning Corpse Bride Blu-ray Disc.
Keep your eyes peeled this summer for Disney’s full A Nightmare Before Christmas Blu-ray press announcement.
