Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan originally envisioned The Strain as a television series and had to opt for a book trilogy instead. Now FX will be airing The Strain series premiere in a few weeks and the latest extended trailer offers the best glimpse yet into this horrific world.
The Strain begins with a 777 that lands at JFK airport and immediately goes dark. The CDC is called in and a starling discovery is made, fueling an epidemic that will spill an ancient strain of a vampiric virus into the streets of NYC.
You’ll be able to spot David Bradley in the strain who plays Abraham Setrakian, a former Holocaust survivor who knows what is going on. He’s a vampire hunter and has been on the hunt for the creatures most of his adult life.
Bradley is now mostly associated with playing Lord Walter Frey in Game of Thrones on HBO. He also portrayed Argus Filch in several of the Harry Potter films.
The Strain is executive produced by Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) along with Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It also stars Anne Betancourt, Pedro Miguel Arce, Nikolai Witschl and Anne Betancourt.
FX will debut The Strain season premiere on July 13.
