‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Opens to $15.3 Million at Thursday Preview Showings

The Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Thursday box office numbers are in and offer some guidance as to where the fifth film in the franchise is headed in North America for its opening weekend.

Thursday night previews drummed up a total of $15.3 million in business from approximately 3,600 theaters. That’s a solid number to be sure, but by no means an astounding number considering the first Jurassic World film pulled in roughly $3 million more.

At this clip the weekend box office total for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom should land somewhere in the $125 to $130 million range. Jurassic World opened to $208 million so its sequel definitely took a step back in attracting moviegoers.

Fallen Kingdom began its theatrical run overseas early and has already pulled in approximately $450 million to date with several big markets yet to open. Over $1 billion in worldwide business is still in the cards if $700 million can be reached internationally and another $300 million in North America.

Friday’s totals should provide a clearer direction of where Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s opening weekend gross amount will wind up.
