Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios announced this week that Black Canary will be joining the ranks of DC Comics icons for the hotly-anticipated Injustice 2. The sequel, which will hit stores on May 16, on the PS4 and Xbox One, has already announced many new fighters, who are joining most of the favorites from the first game.
Also new to Injustice 2 is gear drops and character customization. We got to preview this at last year’s E3, and the combinations of cool gear and player-earned outfits — some of it themed to coincide with legendary DC Comics stories — puts Injustice 2 into the perfect situation to become the best fighting game of the year.
The addition of Black Canary, with her mega-powerful Canary Cry, gives players a range fighter, who is still fast enough to close gaps quickly for hit and run attacks. Disorientation is the name of Canary’s game, as the Canary Cry, in its various forms, works to stun opposing fighters. Canary is also a stout melee fighter, and she can hold her own against some of DC Comics’ biggest and best fighters. Plus, as the comic book love interest of Green Arrow, one of the better fighters in the first Injustice game, expect some cool story interactions between the two.
Here is the new trailer that shows off Black Canary in all her sonic-inducing glory, as she takes on Blue Beetle (another new character for Injustice 2) as well as the previously announced Atrocitus, a Red Lantern. The trailer truly shows off Canary’s move sets, and her speed and agility look to be keys to victory.
Injustice 2 hits stores on May 16, 2017, for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Various versions are available for preorder now, with each version giving bonuses in new characters and more. Check your local retailer, or the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace, for more information, and stay tuned for more previews of Injustice 2 as we get closer to launch.
