Hot off the heels of the announcement that DC Comics-based fighter Injustice 2 is coming next year from NetherRealm Studio and WB Games, the developer has released the first ever gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated fighter. The trailer was revealed during a Mortal Kombat X eSports tournament on Saturday, June 11, and it was well worth the wait.
The trailer features a ton of action and new characters, like Supergirl, iconic Flash villain Gorilla Grodd, the red lantern Atrocitus, and Aquaman’s nemesis, Black Manta fighting each other and other classics DC Comics character like Aquaman, Batman, and Superman. The trailer offers a taste of the character-centric powers and moves (Grodd using his telekinesis, and Supergirl using her heat vision, for example) as well as hints of some new special attacks, and it also shows a little bit of the insane heavy attack scene transition moves that really made Injustice: Gods Among Us one of the best fighters ever released. In other words, there’s a lot to process here. Multiple viewings of the trailer reveal more and more info.
Details are still hard to come by on Injustice 2, as it has only been official since earlier this week, but now that we’re on the eve of E3 2016, expect more information, screens, and trailers in the coming days and weeks. What we do know is that the game features all of the heaviest hitters in the DC Comics universe and that it comes out in 2017 and it will be on the PS4 and Xbox One game systems.
Here is the trailer is all its comic-book-themed glory!
