EA and EA Sports held their summer showcase earlier today and announced that FIFA Soccer 13 and Mass Effect 3 will be Wii U launch games later this year. In addition, EA Sports announced Madden 13 is coming to Nintendo’s new console, but did not confirm when it would launch.
FIFA Soccer 13 on Wii U will include an exclusive cooperative mode where up to four players can control players on the pitch, while a fifth serves as a manager with the Wii U GamePad controller. The manager player can use interactive radar to direct players on supporting runs, change tactics, or perform substitutions on the fly. Players can also use the GamePad controller to aim and curve set kicks by holding it up to the screen for a first-person perspective. EA Sports is calling this “Touch Screen Shooting” and hopes it offers players pinpoint accuracy missing in previous versions of the game.
FIFA Soccer 13 on Wii U will also allows players to use the GamePad to message friends and view stats in real-time.
Wii U exclusive features in Madden NFL 13 include pre-snap adjustments, personal management and streamlined playcalling from the GamePad controller.
Exact release dates for FIFA Soccer 13, Mass Effect 3 and Madden 13 on Wii U are expected to be announced in the coming months.
