The Last of Us In-Game PS3 Screenshots Reveal “The City of Bridges”

The Last of Us In-Game PS3 Screenshots Reveal The City of BridgesThe first screenshots from Naughty Dog’s upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive The Last of Us have arrived and follow in the tradition of the announcement trailer by being comprised 100 percent of in-game assets.

Game Informer followed through on their promise earlier today by revealing the first three screenshots released from the game. The first features Joel taking a blow to the back by an infected hobo; the second an expansive city shot of Pittsburgh with the yellow bridge giving away the location; and the third a shot of Joel and his tag-a-long young friend, Ellie.

While we’ll have to wait until next week when the March issue of Game Informer drops to learn more about the game and see another 17 screenshots, some little tidbits were shared along with this first trio of screens. Ellie is confirmed to be a non-playable AI-controlled character who will accompany players through the campaign. Per Game Informer’s demo with Naughty Dog, she always manages to keep up and never seems to get in the way. Though I’d be shocked if she doesn’t find herself in harm’s way on more than one occasion.

We also learn that combat is a mix of gunplay and melee. This still doesn’t tell us if The Last of Us is a first-person shooter or played from the third-person perspective like Uncharted, but I’m willing to bet on the latter.
