Sorcery PS3 Keynote Footage and First Screens

One of the surprising titles demoed with real-time gameplay footage to showcase Playstation Move at Sony’s E3 2010 keynote address was Sorcery from developer The Workshop.

Creative director Christian Busic introduced the idea of Sorcery as stemming from the Move controller. In the game you play a young sorcerer’s apprentice who is tasked with stopping a growing evil in his land. The Move is a natural extension of the character’s magic wand which he wields throughout the demo to cast numerous spells on various types of monsters and demons.

The animation in Sorcery is smooth and control of the Wand with Move looks natural whether casting spells from overhead or from the apprentice’s hip. Sorcery will inevitably draw comparisons to another young wizard, Harry Potter. This apprentice may have a few more tricks up his sleeve when more details are revealed at a later date.

Sorcery is slated to ship sometime in 2011 exclusively for PS3. Click either of the thumbnails below to view the first official high resolution images released by Sony.
