The Super Mario Bros.’ presence will be felt exclusively in the Wii U version of Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends when the game ships in a little less than a month.
Ubisoft has announced that after playing the Wii U version of Rayman Legends for 20 minutes, players will unlock costume skins for Rayman as Mario and Globox as Luigi. You can get a feel for what the skins look like via the screenshots and trailer below, and enjoy the irony of Luigi being “fat” and Mario being “thin” for a change.
Rayman Legends was originally designed as a Wii U exclusive game and expected to be released during the Wii U’s launch window, or even as a launch day title, last holiday season. It was even the lone playable demo in Wii U retail kiosks that accompanied the console’s launch.
As Wii U struggled out the gate, Ubisoft went silent regarding a locked in Rayman Legends release date. They eventually announced the game would be released on September 3, 2013 for not only Wii U, but Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and the PC as well.
