Pac-Man Joins Super Smash Bros.

Pac-Man Joins Super Smash Bros. The Namco-Bandai and Nintendo partnership has led to the inclusion of Pac-Man in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

Pac-Man was announced as the latest fighter to join the Super Smash Bros. roster and character list during E3’s final hours on day one. In addition, a Pac-Man themed stage will also be included in the game that you will see in the announcement trailer and screenshots below.

Nintendo is using the newer 3D Pac-Man character design with arms and legs for Super Smash Bros. with a caveat. For special attacks, Pac-Man will turn into his old 2D rotund chomping self, including a final attack in which he grows in size and takes up a sizable portion of the screen. He also has an attack in which those glorious blue pellets spew from his mouth and he runs around the screen chomping them up along with any contestant that happens to get in the way, and another in which he hurls fruit at opponents.

Pac-Man does not appear to be one of the first wave of amiibo physical figures that will be compatible with Super Smash Bros. That does not mean that he isn’t in development and will be available in a later wave.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will be released on October 3, while the Wii U version with immediate amiibo support is due this upcoming holiday season, most likely within the first two months of 2015.
