An Xbox 360 Kinect launch title is getting a sequel this fall and I’ve got some new screens and b-roll footage from part of the game released to coincide with PAX.
The game is Kinect Sports: Season Two which will feature simplified versions of Baseball, Skiing, Tennis, Football, Golf and Darts played exclusively with Kinect’s motion controls. Baseball is the focus of the PAX reveal and promises in-game voice commands and some of the most precise full-body motion tracking seen on a Kinect game to date.
Batting in Kinect Sports: Season Two will be controlled by timing your swing early or late to aim the ball to right, center or left field. If you need to bunt or call in the star batter with more home run pop, voice commands will take care of that. Once the ball is in play, you’ll be responsible for running the bases or even sliding when the play is close. Watch our for rug burns!
Pitching will measure your arm speed to determine which of six pitches will be thrown. As with hitting, voice commands will call in the star pitcher, while motion controls are responsible for tracking down the ball and throwing once it’s in play.
Each baseball game will last only two innings so players and families can get in and out quickly. Unfortunately the b-roll footage is strictly of the game and does not showcase the types of body movements used to say slide into home or throw a slider.
