Insomniac’s Overstrike Becomes Fuse; First Screens Released

Insomniac's Overstrike Becomes Fuse; First Screens ReleasedThe Insomniac Games project Overstrike is now known as Fuse, and it aims to be one of the first quarter 2013 must-have titles.

The name Fuse refers to a “deadly alien energy source” that threatens mankind. To combat those who seek to exploit this energy, Insomniac Games has created contact team Overstrike 9 characters Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux who can be used simultaneously in four player co-op. Solo players will have the ability to seamlessly jump between characters at any time and take advantage of each’s unique attributes.

Contact team Overstrike 9 will more specifically be up against a rogue paramilitary organization called Raven. This group seeks to steal the Fuse energy from a secured installation. Overstrike 9 will chase this organization around the world, and in the process come across another more deadly enemy that must be dealt with.

Is that unknown enemy the Enforcer robots shown in the screenshots below? It’s too early to tell, but you can get an idea of how teamwork to topple over-sized adversaries will play a crucial role in the Fuse experience.

The creators of PS3 exclusives Ratchet & Clank and Resistance will inject “outlandish and gruesome weapons design, over-the-top action and a touch of humor” into Fuse, per Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price. Those weapons will be powered by the same alien Fuse energy that the humans are fighting to eradicate.

Fuse is the first multi-platform title from previous PS3-exclusive developers Insomniac Games. It will be available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2013.
