First Guitar Hero 5 Screens for PS3, Xbox 360

First Guitar Hero 5 Screens for PS3, Xbox 360New details and the first screenshots have surfaced for Neversoft and Activision’s Guitar Hero 5.

One of the screens features three drum kits on stage at the same time which is an example of the new band customization mode. This mode will let you put together any combination of instruments in a band, even if you want four drum kits and nothing else. It is assumed this mode will work online considering the logistics of putting together a custom band in someone’s home would be fairly tricky to overcome.

New modes include Party Play where you can jump in and out of a song at any point; RockFest with five new head-to-head modes available on or offline; and the entire 85-song set list will be open and ready to play from the first time Guitar Hero 5 is fired up.

Other small tweaks and additions include Band Moments that will offer rewards based on band performances, and challenges to bands to complete a song in a particular style.

Some of the new bands confirmed for Guitar Hero 5 include Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. Others, including the full set list, should become available during or shortly after E3.

World Tour owners will be happy to learn that all downloaded songs for that game will be automatically retrofitted with Guitar Hero 5’s new features when played on the same console as Guitar Hero 5.

Guitar Hero 5 is coming to PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PS2 later this year.
