Ubisoft has refined the release window and offered the first details, screens and trailer for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.
The original Call of Juarez was ported from the PC to Xbox 360 and immediately struck a chord with first-person shooter fans looking for a change of pace. Bow and arrows, pistols, prostitutes, an engaging storyline and impressively strong audio and graphics set in the wild west made playing through the campaign hard to put down. If you haven’t heard of the original Call of Juarez or played it, by all means do so immediately.
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood will expand onto PS3 in addition to Xbox 360 and the PC. You’ll play either Ray or Thomas McCall, each featuring their own unique styles such as short versus long range combat, character-specific weapons and abilities (lasso, dynamite, etc.). It does not appear cooperative play will be available though that announcement may still yet come.
Like its predecessor, Bound in Blood will follow an original storyline that will see you go up against unique bosses like an Apache Chief, a greedy Mexican bandit and a vindictive Colonel. You’ll also be able to use canoes, horses and wagons to complete specific missions.
The big news is an expansion into online multiplayer where Bound in Blood offers unlockable characters that can compete in team-based objectives or team death match. In staying true to old west themes, a new bounty mode will put a bounty on every man’s head that increases with each successive kill they accumulate before dieing themselves.
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood will be released this summer. Check out the high-res screens, including using a cannon to take out troops emerging from a river, below.
